 270 These procedures provide a platform and compiler independent interface
 271 for memory allocation.  Programs that need to transfer ownership of
 272 memory blocks between Tcl and other modules should use these routines
 273 rather than the native \fBmalloc()\fR and \fBfree()\fR routines
 274 provided by the C run-time library.

 277 bytes suitably aligned for any use.
