 271 The Tcl stubs mechanism defines a way to dynamically bind
 272 extensions to a particular Tcl implementation at run time.

 274 incoporating Tcl/Tk interpreters.  Only developers creating
 275 C-based Tcl/Tk extensions need to take steps to use the
 276 stubs mechanism with their extensions.

 279 Enabling the stubs mechanism for a Tcl/Tk extension requires the following

 288 Define the USE_TCL_STUBS symbol.  Typically, you would include the
 289 -DUSE_TCL_STUBS flag when compiling the extension.

 291 Link the extension with the Tcl and Tk stubs libraries instead of
 292 the standard Tcl and Tk libraries.  On Unix platforms, the library
 293 names are \fIlibtclstub8.1.a\fR and \fIlibtkstub8.1.a\fR; on Windows
 294 platforms, the library names are
 295 \fItclstub81.lib\fR and \fItkstub81.lib\fR.

 297 \fBTk_InitStubs\fR attempts to initialize the Tk stub table pointers
 298 and ensure that the correct version of Tk is loaded.  In addition
 299 to an interpreter handle, it accepts as arguments a version number
 300 and a Boolean flag indicating whether the extension requires
 301 an exact version match or not.  If \fIexact\fR is 0, then the
 302 extension is indicating that newer versions of Tk are acceptable
 303 as long as they have the same major version number as \fIversion\fR;
 304 non-zero means that only the specified \fIversion\fR is acceptable.
 305 \fBTcl_InitStubs\fR returns a string containing the actual version
 306 of Tk satisfying the request, or NULL if the Tk version is not
 307 acceptable, does not support the stubs mechansim, or any other
 308 error condition occurred.
