  30 ttytype \- terminal device to default terminal type mapping
  31 .SH DESCRIPTION

  33 .I /etc/ttytype
  34 file associates termcap/terminfo terminal type names
  35 with tty lines.
  36 Each line consists of a terminal type, followed by
  37 whitespace, followed by a tty name (a device name without the
  38 .IR /dev/ ") prefix."

  42 to set the environment variable

  47 This facility was designed for a traditional time-sharing environment
  48 featuring character-cell terminals hardwired to a UNIX minicomputer.
